PRESS RELEASE
Cardinal Parolin addresses military personnel worldwide
The Apostolat Militaire International, in close collaboration with Tweeting with GOD, presents a unique app for young military
Download: App Store | Google Play
[Lourdes, May 13, 2022] “In the hope that the new Catholic Military Connect app will accompany you on your journey of faith, I invite all of you together to join me in downloading the app!” With these words, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican, launched the new app. He addressed military from around the world in a video message as over 8000 military from many nations gathered in Lourdes to pray for peace, reconciliation and fraternity.
The Catholic Military Connect app is the result of the joined efforts of the Apostolat Militaire International, which searches to promote fraternity among military worldwide, strengthen peace and provide strategic advice, and the Tweeting with GOD project, initiated by Father Michel Remery in dialogue with young people from around the world.
Cardinal Parolin praised: “I believe that the app will be immensely helpful to all military personnel and in a particular way to young men and women who in this important sector of civil service seek to grow in personal friendship with Jesus Christ and in the understanding and appreciation of the beauty and richness of our Catholic faith”.
The Cardinal brought the greetings of Pope Francis, “who has often spoken of the dignity and the importance of the military services for the promotion of the cause of peace”. Thanks to the strategic partnership between the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network and Tweeting with GOD, the new app makes it possible to pray with the Pope for his monthly intentions. The Cardinal invited all military to frequently do so, and to also use the app to get in touch with the military chaplaincy of participating nations.
His Eminence showed great appreciation for the work of the military, telling them: “Your vital role in promoting the cause of peace, freedom and the common good has become all the more evident in recent weeks even amid the tragedy of war in the role you have played in the largest scale planning and provision of humanitarian aid to so many of our displaced and suffering brothers and sisters”.
In a gesture of fraternity with the Ukrainian delegation, the Catholic Military Connect app will be made available for all Ukrainian military in their own language, allowing them through the app to pray, receive spiritual first aid and be strengthened in their faith to assist others.
An App for Catholic Military from Catholic Military
The Catholic Military Connect app offers users a range of possibilities: answers to military questions, prayers for the military, testimonies, inspiring quotes, and spiritual first aid. Users from member countries can contact a military chaplain and associations directly from the app. Furthermore, the app gives access to hundreds of questions about life, faith, prayers and devotions in many languages, as well as a link to the Pope’s monthly prayer.
The Catholic Military Connect app is currently available in both the Google Play and App stores, for smartphones and tablets, in 8 languages (English, Italian, French, Spanish, Croatian, German, Portuguese and Dutch). Download the app via App Store (https://apple.co/3sNAotD) or Google Play (https://bit.ly/CMC_en).
