This year, Apostolat Militaire International again took part in the event organized by the Dicasterium pro Laicis, Familia et Vita.

On Thursday, 13 June 2024, the annual meeting with the Moderators of the International Associations of the Faithful, Ecclesial Movements and New Communities was held in the New Synod Hall, in Vatican City, on the topic “The Challenge of Synodality for the Mission.”

Many different movements with pontifical recognition were present, including the Apostolat Militaire International with the participation of the AMI President, Vice-Adm (ret) Matthieu Borsboom.

The annual meeting started with the celebration of the holy mass Holy at the Altar of the Chair in St. Peter’s Basilica, presided over by His Eminence, Cardinal Kevin FARRELL, Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life.

Confirming the relevance of the conference and the subject matter, participants had an audience with Pope Francis who emphasized the centrality of synodality, the journey together of the People of God, the parish, diocesan and universal journey.

In this regard, Pope Francis outlined three “synodal virtues”:

  • Thinking as God thinks, our first inner transformation is to go beyond “merely human thinking” to embrace the “thought of God”;
  • Overcoming exclusivity, the invitation not to close ourselves off to others, not to be convinced that what we do is right for everyone and not to limit ourselves to what our “circle” thinks;
  • Cultivating humility, the humble person brings out not his or her own “self,” but the “we” of the community.
